Our History

Our history begins with a “hand shake” agreement in 1971, in which Kevin McNicholas crafted a partnership to provide programs, souvenirs, and press box catering at Denver’s Mile High Stadium. In 1973 this company, K-M Concessions, Inc. (K-M) secured the visitor service contract at the Denver Zoo, and continues to provide these services today. These include: retail gift shops, concessions and cafeteria style service, full service catering, ride operation, and janitorial services.

In response to demand from cultural attractions around the country, Kevin formed Service Systems Associates (SSA) as a sister company to K-M, with business partner Timothy Brantley in 1989. We now provide visitor service operations in 29 cultural attractions across the United States.

Our organization was built on the integrity of a hand shake. These ideals are just as important to us today as they were thirty eight years ago. We believe that a visitor’s experience at a high quality concession, gift shop, or catered event plays a major role in determining their overall perception of the attraction. We also believe that a positive experience can best be achieved through fast, courteous service and a reasonable pricing structure.

Testimonials
